O God, it is good to be alive and here – though it is hard to wait to do all the things I want to do. You have made the world so rich, so great, so crammed full of possibilities. You have made it so beautiful. I thank you for all who have given me this chance to learn, and to get ready for life; my family, my teachers, my friends. Let me show You a proper reverence for things that have come to me at cost of other’s toil, even tears. My heritage as a student rich. Establish my values – and let my body, mind and spirit have part only in that which is clean and good and joyous. In moments of temptation, let me not lower my standards, but depending on Your strength, given to many another before me, win through. Enrich my friendships here, enrich my fun, and give me a lively concern for the lot of less fortunate people. Widen my horizon, widen my sympathies, and when I am finished here, let me give myself to serve Your ongoing purposes in this wonderful world. AMEN

Set on the Rand with Gold all around
