Netball has developed into one of the most successful codes of sport at Alberton High School since the arrival of Mrs. Karin Heystek.

A large number of girls have been selected to represent the Alberton Area, as well as District teams, with Kristen Strimling being the first Alberton High learner selected to represent the U14 Gauteng Provincial Netball team in 2010. Desonia Van Rooy was selected to represent Gauteng for the 2016 season

Mrs. Heystek is a SA schools netball umpire with a B grading and a level 2 coaching qualification.

All staff members involved in the coaching of netball are qualified umpires and coaches with gradings ranging from a district grading to a provincial grading.

  • The Tswane University of Technology - Super 16 series for small schools

  • 5 all weather courts, which are also used for tennis.

Ms Posthumus has been with AHS for 3 years now, and extramurally she's involved with athletics, netball and the school's bi-annual magazine, the Totem Pole.

Ms Heystek has been on staff at AHS for a year, and works with the cheerleaders, netball team, our bi-annual magazine, the Totem Pole and Open Day extramurally. Her interests include photography, nature and travelling.
